Description – It is an aspartate family amino acid, a proteinogenic amino acid, an aspartic acid and a L-alpha-amino acid. It is a non-essential amino acid and helps in improving metabolism.
Function -Aspartic acid is involved in the Krebs’s cycel or the citric acid cycle. It helps in the synthesis of four essential amino acids through this cycle: methionine, threonine, isoleucine, and lysine. Methionine is used in the metabolism; threonine is used in the central nervous system, the cardiovascular system, and the immune system; isoleucine is used in energy regulation; lysine is used in growth and muscle turnover.
